First of all, I want to express my gratitude to Heavenly Father for keeping my sweet mother safe this past week. She was in a severe car accident, and through heavenly help, was able to walk away with only a concussion. I'm overwhelmed and humbled by this experience, and I am so grateful to Heavenly Father for watching over her and protecting her. She means the world to me, and I can't imagine no longer having her on this earth. It's truly a miracle!
It's been an adventurous week for us! JASPER WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! I could hardly stop smiling all day, it felt so good to be surrounded by mountains again! We went to Maligne Canyon, Whistler Mountain, and hiked near the Hot springs. The weather couldn't have been better! No wind, perfectly clear skies, Heavenly Father was sooo good to us!
Wednesday was such a good day! We were able to have a lesson with a new investigator for the Strathcona Married Student ward! This is huge people! This ward has the most specific demographic out there. You need to be married, a student, and if you have kids, they can't be older than Primary age. It's such a struggle to find investigators for this ward! One of our returning members invited her friend to the "Why I Believe" fireside that they had here in the city a few weeks ago, and she loved it! So we met with her at this member's house. Her name is L, and she is as blunt and honest as they come! Haha she reminded me a lot of W. P.! She is very set on what she believes, and she was very vocal during the lesson. If she didn't like our question, she would tell us. If she didn't agree with a principle, she wasn't shy to let us know. These are my favorite kind of investigators! We don't have to guess whether or not it's getting through to them because they tell us! It was so great because L has heard the Joseph Smith story a couple of times. She told us, "I've heard this before, and all I hear is 'Blah, blah blah,' so I doubt this time will be any different." Sister H asked the member to tell the story for us! Haha and the Spirit just filled the room as she told it to L. This member has only recently started coming back to church, and it was so cool to watch her bear her testimony to her friend. L even said, "for once, I actually heard the story!" It was seriously so cool! She's open to continuing with the lessons. It's gonna be a long journey with her, but I have faith her heart will open!
Update with E, he moved to China! We are so sad! He is such an amazing man, but we know that Heavenly Father will continue to look after him in China. I gain so much peace in knowing that this is a world wide church, and the same truth that is found here can be found with the members in China! We're gonna miss him like crazy, but I have no doubt we will see him again soon!
Friday, we were able to see our investigator, C! I don't think I've told you about her. She's 82, and she's friends with a member. She recently had a falling out with her family, and she didn't know where to turn. Fortunately, she turned to us for help! We have taught her the first lesson, and we've read some of the Book of Mormon with her! She's not quite ready to come to church, but she did watch General Conference. She has agreed to be baptized once she knows it's true! She is a stubborn woman, as you would expect from most 82 year olds! But she is willing to listen, and we can see her heart softening.
Saturday was exchanges with Sister P! It was so fun to be together again! We were able to spend a lot of time trying by less actives, and we worked at the Whyte Ave. booth together! Whyte Ave is one of the main shopping hubs in Edmonton, and there are always people walking down the streets. Due to the SNOW, (yes, we got snow this weekend!) we decided to give out free hot chocolate! We didn't see a ton of success, but we were able to talk to so many people! She's such a great missionary, and it was fun to relive our memories of our time together in Lacombe!
Yesterday, we were able to go to the Mission Home to help the assistants with a Follow-Up Trainer meeting. It was with all of the outlying missionaries, so we were doing a mass Skype session. Sadly, this was an epic fail, so we ended up using all of our iPads to FaceTime everyone in. Well, the wifi could only handle 5 FaceTime's at one time, so calls kept dropping, it was such a gong show! We were able to do a conference call for the audio, and the show went on! Sister H and I gave a training about being unified in your companionship. Then we got to have some hot chocolate and cookies with President and Sister P with their son, J! It was my dream day in the mission! I always pictured myself hanging out with the mission president in the mission home, chatting about the mission. Haha I'm such a nerd, but it was so fun! We had a great discussion about implementing some things in the mission. He's just such a great man!
Well everyone, I am truly counting my blessings this week. It was Canadian Thanksgiving this past week, and it's always such a joy to look back and see how much the Lord has given us. He has blessed me SO much in my life, and I know that I'll never be able to repay Him. But for now, I will serve Him with all my heart, might, mind, and strength to show how much I love Him. Again thank you for all your love and support! It keeps me going!
