First of all, thank you so much for all of your birthday wishes! It was an amazing day, better than I could have ever asked for! The ward took great care of me, and Sister V was the best! She even sang to me during comp study!
It's been another full week, with a rollercoaster of emotions! I'll start off with G and R. We had a fantastic lesson with them on Wednesday going over the baptismal questions! It was so great to be able to hear their testimonies and see how far they have come. It was such a proud Mama moment! Then their baptismal interviews were on Friday, and everything went so well! We had them try on some baptismal clothes, and Cherry Grove being as old as it is, there were a few interesting choices... R named one of the suits the "Elvis" suit. hahaha so we had fun doing that! The only thing that was left to worry about for their baptism was making sure they attended church on Sunday. We checked a ton of times just to make sure they would make it!
Well Sunday came, and no G and R! Both of our hearts just sank. We called and texted, but no response. So we stopped by yesterday, and it turned out that they accidently slept through! Their grandma had gotten home from the casino at midnight and talked with them until 6 am! hahaha but we had a great conversation with them, and G's sister, Sh, really wants to get baptized as well, so they've decided to wait until they can all do it together, and then their grandparents can come up from Salt Lake! Sadly, I will be transferred before that, but I'm so happy that all of them want to be baptized!
We were able to go see E and K in Bonnyville on Thursday! A member, Bro. C, met us there, and we had an awesome lesson with them about the Priesthood. They had requested a blessing on their home, and so we were able to explain to K why Bro. C had the authority to bless their home. The Spirit was so strong! Bro. C gave such a strong testimony about the priesthood and about missionaries. It was so cool. They keep telling us how much they love having us over, and they keep inviting us back! hahah so I have no doubt that these two will make it to the temple. They love each other so much, and K is so prepared and ready to accept the gospel.
We saw a huge miracle this week! The sisters have been meeting with a less active woman named L for quite a few months, and she keeps saying that she's going to come back to church, but she hasn't come. We hadn't seen her in a few weeks, but we stopped by on Wednesday, and she committed to coming to church! And SHE CAME!!! It was so amazing to see her! The ward was so excited to see her, and although she has severe anxiety, she did so well!
Thursday, we were able to go to St. Paul to take Sister V to the chiropractor. We contacted the St. Paul elders and asked if there was anyone we could go see while we were there. They gave us the name of a lady who needed some help packing to move. So we showed up, and saw the husband. We started asking him about where they were moving, and then came an awkward moment! Turns out they just got divorced, and she was packing up her things to move out! Alrighty then! Hahaha we went inside, and it was a mess! Stuff was everywhere, and this woman wouldn't even throw away empty containers! She wanted everything that was "hers." The ex husband then came in, and they both just stared at us while we packed stuff up..... it was just an awkward situation all around! hahah but they did give us 6 giant cucumbers from the garden for helping! So that was good! hahah I hated divorce before, but that experience just set it solidly in my mind that I never want to get divorced! hahaha
Our dearest W P is finally back from vacation! Well kind of, he's off to Calgary this weekend then off to Florida the week after for business. haha but we finally got to teach him! Man, I've missed him! We just get along famously, and he just cracks me up! We read the Book of Mormon with him, and committed him to pray every day during vacation. Well he can't back down from a challenge, and he knows that I'll hold him to his word, so he agreed! Sadly I only get to teach him 1 more time before I leave, but I'm so grateful for all the time I have been able to spend teaching him.
Wow! I actually have a somewhat short email this week! Haha It's been a great week, and it's starting to become really real that I'm leaving Cherry Grove in just two short weeks. I didn't think it was possible to learn to love people so quickly, but man I really do love the people of Cherry Grove so much! It's going to be so hard to leave, but Heavenly Father has some other people I need to meet.
Have a great week this week everyone! Remember who you are trying to be like! (Jesus) ;)
Love you!
Sister Bethany Christensen
