We had an unexpected visiter the night before we were to drop off Sis. Christensen. A stomach virus! It all started out innocently enough. Dinner with the whole family- but before dinner ever got off the ground little Tague let us know this "intruder" was lurking. By the time we finished dinner and headed back to the hotel, MaRhea and Aimee were getting acquainted with the "intruder". Poor Aimee got to sleep on the bathroom floor.... all night. By morning, Sis. Christensen was heading in the same direction. After a call to the MTC, they felt it better to ride it out for a day or two before bringing Sis. C. in. It was a blessing and a hard thing all wrapped up in one. I was grateful for the opportunity to "take care" of her as I haven't been able to do for some time (she's lived away from home for 3 years) and have some quiet non-rushed time with her. It was hard in that it was just prolonging the inevitable especially the separation of her and Aimee. Sis. C was anxious to get to the MTC, but she certainly was not anywhere close to 100%. In fact she felt like she was more like 40%. I couldn't get her to eat much before she went in... she was just too worried it would come back up. It had been a full 24 hours since it all started, so we were hopeful she was not contagious and we felt like Satan just didn't want her to get there. It was time to just push through it all and get there. The mom in me made dad stop so I could (at least) put a couple of granola bars in her bag since I knew she had just missed lunch. Because we had missed the initial drop off, the security guard directed us to take her in the lobby with her luggage and be prepared to say a quick good bye and be gone. That's exactly what happened. The lady at the front desk invited us to say a quick good bye. At first I was just caught up in the emotion of it all and then realized I didn't get any photos, so I took a couple of extra minutes to snap some, and thank goodness there were two little sister missionaries standing close by so we asked one to take a pic of the 4 of us. Then it was time to go. As gut wrenching as this experience was, there's a peace that came the minute we drove off. Through the tears and sadness, there is more excitement and anticipation of what's ahead for her and our family! Go get them Sister Christensen! Canada is not going to know what hit it when you get there!
PS. on a side note, of the 13 of us, 7 got sick. MaRhea's pretty sure it came from the daycare :(
