two lessons today. We're so busy, we have to see people on P day! Haha
so I hope you enjoy these stories!
It's hard to beat a Hawaiian luau with Johnny Lingo! One of the young
women leaders just got back from Hawaii, so she decided the girls
needed to experience some of Hawaii. We watched Johnny Lingo, and then
we went through the 8 values and how they help us become an "8 cow
wife." 😂 it was so much fun! We had the chance to teach the girls
about virtue, and it was so fun to be able to get to know these lovely
young women. The youth in this ward face a lot of challenges, many
struggle with depression and anxiety. It has blown me away to see how
hard life is for young kids today. Things weren't this hard 4 years
ago! Their resilience and strength blow me away.
Friday was spent doing a ton of service! Story of our lives out here!
I think we wore jeans more than skirts this week! Everyone is working
on their spring cleaning, and offering service has opened the doors of
a lot of people who otherwise would have been very resistant. We were
able to help one of our investigators, C, and his girlfriend,
A, paint some base boards for a house they are building. Good to
know my painting skills haven't faded! I only got paint on my belt
buckle! Then we helped clean the kitchen at a daycare/school that our
recent convert, D works at. A less active actually owns the
school! We've been trying to get ahold of her for weeks, and we've
gotten no where. Well now that we were able to get in a serve, she's
opened up! We were able to help her on Saturday with some roofing
stuff, and we're trying to convince her to let us help her clean her
house. Hahah we'll see how that goes.
Friday & Saturday we had two dinner appointments, each night! My
skirts are getting tighter! haha our first supper on Saturday was a
blast! The G's, Less Actives we visited last week, the ones who
found the anti stuff, invited us over for a fire pit dinner! We had
bush pies, which are little pizzas cooked in cast iron things? Haha
it's hard to describe! But they were so good! They invite another
couple from the ward, and it was a blast! We shared a scripture with
them about Heavenly Father, and it set off a spark in Sister G.
She thought of a scripture from the Book of Mormon but she couldn't
remember where it was! She spent 15 minutes looking through journals
trying to find it! It was so cool to see her be so passionate about
finding it! She didn't end up finding it but the light came back! It
will be a long road back, but they are headed that direction!
The last 5 weeks here have just flown by. Everyone said the first 6
months are the slowest, and it wasn't even slow! I love Cherry Grove
so much! But what I love the most is the way Heavenly Father is
transforming the way I see people. I'm starting to see a glimpse into
how we feels about us. And it's incredible! I love every moment that I
get to be His representative.
Have an amazing week, and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! I can't wait to see
you guys!! 🎉🎊🎉🎉🎊
