You are in for a jam packed email full of stories and miracles. Brace yourselves!!!
It has been one of the best weeks of my mission! Heavenly Father has been so good to me, giving me opportunities over and over again to find and see the right people! As always, it's way easier to break it down day by day.
Tuesday- What an adventurous day in Edmonton! Man, I have missed the city! We started off by going to the Legislature building, which is stunning! In order to get there, we had to take the LRT, the subway system in Edmonton. I got to do my first LRT contacting! It's so foreign to me to have so many people around to talk to! But we had a blast talking to people. After the Leg, we went and had lunch at Tres Carnales, a fantastic Mexican restaurant in downtown Edmonton. Man I have missed good Mexican food! Then we got to go shopping at the mall! Life is so good. Haha then we spent some time emailing.
We had managed our time so well throughout the day. As we approached the time to leave to go to the temple, all of sudden everything that could go wrong did! It was the craziest thing! We got to the temple at 5:32, and they had already started the session. So we went to dinner and came back for the 7:30 session. As soon as I get out of the car, I see half of the Lacombe Relief Society walking towards me!! I couldn't believe it! It was so cool! They were all as shocked as I was, and it was such a happy reunion with each of them. Being able to go through the temple session with these sweet sisters who hold such a special place in my heart was was absolutely incredible. Heavenly Father knew I needed to see those sweet sisters, and He made it possible for that to happen. He's just so good to me!
Wednesday was Zone Conference. Interviews, and exchanges. It was crazy. Haha but a blast! My interview with President Pattison was great! I just love this man so much! He has so much energy and enthusiasm, and he is exactly who the Lord needed here! We had a great conversation about my mission so far, and he let me know that I will be getting transferred from Cherry Grove at the end of the transfer. Not surprised, but ti's still gonna be so hard to leave! At least I know for sure now.
Zone Conference was amazing! We talked a lot about motivation to find new investigators. We discussed how we can start meaningful conversations with others as well as finding the right people. Something that President Pattison said was, "we're not here to baptize everyone, we're here to baptize those whom the Lord has prepared." I loved that! I sometimes get really overwhelmed because there are so many people around me, and I can't possibly talk to all of them, but I know that the Lord will lead me to those who are ready.
After Zone Conference, we started our exchange! I stayed with Sister H in Edmonton, I just adore her! We had a blast! Her area is the downtown area of Edmonton, so we were street contacting below skyscrapers! I was in heaven! Business people and suits everywhere, there were so many people to talk to! We were able to talk to a guy from Columbia who was willing to learn! I tested out some of my Spanish on him, he thought it was pretty funny! haha but we had a great conversation, and I can't wait to see where his journey takes him! We were also able to teach a guy named L who is originally from Jordan! Some YSA sisters had found him on the LRT, and he was super willing to learn! We met the YSA sisters there, and it was 4 against 1! Haha but this man has pretty much lost everything in his life, and he desperately wants to follow the Savior. He kept asking what he could do to follow him. It was so cool! The STL's have been praying for a solid investigator, and it was awesome to see that miracle happen.
Thursday, we were able to go visit a woman in a long-term care hospital in downtown Edmonton. She was quite the character! Haha but she was a sweetheart, and it really made me appreciate having an able body that can move at any opportunity. We then finished up our exchange and drove back to Smokey Lake to meet up with Sister V and Sister M. When we went inside the gas station, they were giving a copy of the Book of Mormon to one of the store owners! It was awesome!
Friday we had a lesson with E and K, and they are just SO WONDERFUL! She told us that her husband showed her how to download the app for the Book of Mormon and asked where she should start reading! She's so eager and prepared to learn! She also said she wants to come to church! Literally, they are perfect! She has lots of questions, and really she is the coolest human being ever! We are taking a member couple with us this week to say a blessing on their house, and hopefully they will be coming to church on Sunday!
Saturday, we helped R in our ward pack up her house and move some boxes, in which is exciting because.... WE ARE MOVING TOO! We get an adorable little house to ourselves! We are so excited! Pictures to come, of what the inside looks like! We have a nice kitchen, and 3 bedrooms, and a barn in the back surrounded by trees! It's absolutely perfect! We're moving in at the beginning of next month.
Sunday was just an absolute miracle. G and R texted us about 30 minutes before church saying they couldn't make it, and I was so sad! I really wanted them to come, but Heavenly Father is just too smart and too cool! The Executive Secretary walks up to us with this family who had just popped in to check out the church! They are from Good Soil, and they are looking for a new church so they decided to come see what ours is like! The mom is expecting their 3rd child, and they have two little girls. It was so amazing! Heavenly Father knew we needed to be able to take care of this family. They are open to learning more, and they are coming back next week!
I'll finish off with G and R! THEY'RE GETTING BAPTIZED SEPT. 2!!!!! I'm so dang proud o these two wonderful people. I've been stressing so much about whether or not they are ready to get baptized. The last thing I want to do is have them make covenants they aren't ready to keep. But the Spirit even works through our investigators! We had a lesson with them yesterday, and just as we were about to leave, G said, "You don't need to worry about us walking away. We know it's true, and we aren't going to leave. So don't worry about us." I was almost in tears! It was exactly what I needed to hear. I know that they are ready, I know they can do this. It's just so hard to let them leap! Now I know how all of you parents feel like! I just don't want them to mess up or fall, but I know that they are capable of doing this, I just have to let them.
Whew! What a week it's been! Heavenly Father has been showering blessings down on us, and I just stand in awe of all that is happening around me. He is just so aware of each individual! And the best feeling in the world is when you know that you played a role in His plan for them. We don't meet any person by accident, He has perfectly orchestrated our lives so that we meet the right people at the right time. We're supposed to help people along this difficult journey of life! So please do me a favor this week, and find someone you can uplift or encourage.
Also! Be sure to tell Aimee Happy Birthday on Saturday! ;)
Have a great week everyone! I love each of you!!
